Davis, Calif., Z·World today announced the pairing of Z-World control products with microCommander software®, a graphical user interface (GUI) programming environment designed for microcontroller applications. This product pairing provides designers unfamiliar with C programming the ability to use Z·World's award-winning embedded control boards and core modules, adding a new level of interactivity to these devices.

The GUI-based environment of microCommander enables drag-and-drop programming that is intuitively simple to understand and quick to implement. Besides saving the programmer a significant amount of time, the customizable graphical representations are used to develop visual-based systems that can be controlled from anywhere on the globe using Internet connectivity.

Key features of microCommander software include a wide selection of instrumentation controls allowing for visual control and read-out of working control systems. Controls and gauges include knobs, meters, sliders, strip chart recorder, LEDs, numeric readouts, and thermometers. The 100% drag-and-drop creation concept does not require any code writing and is configured in a Windows®-style format. Control of a single board computer is handled automatically from a direct source or over the Internet.

Intec's microCommander initially offers full support for Z-World's RCM2200 core module and BL2100 single board computer. Compatibility with other boards is planned for the near future. For more information, visit: www.zworld.com/products/bl2100/ and www.zworld.com/products/rcm2200/.

Z·World
Founded in 1983, Z·World offers a complete line of low-cost embedded control products, including single-board computers, operator interfaces, and core modules with Internet/Ethernet connectivity. In 1989, Z·World launched Dynamic C®, the first integrated software development system specifically designed for embedded single-board computers. This highly successful integration of hardware and software substantially reduces development time and cost. In November 1999, Z·World launched a new division, Rabbit Semiconductor, a fabless semiconductor company specializing in high-performance microprocessors. Z·World and Rabbit Semiconductor are located in Davis, Calif., 70 miles east of San Francisco.

INTEC Automation
Has provided data acquisition and control solutions since 1986, and selling its renowned brand of Freedom16 microcontrollers and software development tools to support its microcontrollers since 1993. But Intec's flagship product is microCommander, a HMI software suite that brings internet connectivity, true interactivity and a whole new approach to programming to the world of SBCs and microcontrollers.
